A growing number of cruise enthusiasts are turning to the internet to book their next trip away.
According to a recent poll amongst online cruise enthusiasts 73% per cent of users within the key cruise demographic aged 40 to 75 years, would consider booking their next cruise directly online.
The poll conducted by Click with Technology, aimed to establish whether Silver Surfers use the internet for more than just researching their next holiday. This recent poll quashes the belief that Silver Surfers are reluctant to interact with online booking technology due to unfamiliarity and concerns over security. Contrary to speculation, Silver Surfers are a burgeoning online cruise demographic.
Cruise.co.uk, winners of the ‘Best Cruise Agent in Europe’ award at the World Travel Awards 2009 and 2008 have received over 4.5 million unique visitors this year and an online booking for a record breaking £24,000. With the UK cruise market forecast to be worth £2.2bn in 2010, there has never been a better time for the cruise market to ensure consumers are being given the best choice online.
Dan Caplin Director of CWT said, “The recent poll is great news for the online travel industry, it underlines the need for online booking applications and as recent figures have shown; the cruise sector is on track for phenomenal growth again next year. Offering your customers with live cabin availability and pricing will enable you to differentiate yourself from your competitors.”
