The Future Is Mobile!

The Future Is Mobile!

The world of travel technology is constantly adapting, changing and evolving, with new developments being made all the time. So, with the latest buzz about travellers' enthusiasm for using smart phones before and during their trips growing in strength, travel technology is quickly catching on to this trend.

According to a survey of over 3,500 people conducted by travel social network WAYN, 48% of non-US users visit between 2 and 5 different websites when planning a trip, while an impressive 67% of non-US users claimed they would be willing to try booking holidays with their smart phone through a trusted provider.

When these statistics are combined with the growing trend for travellers to browse for and book hotels for their trips only a few days before or even after arrival at their destination, there seems to be a pretty compelling case for travel technology to move further into the mobile world.

Indeed, this is happening at a surprisingly fast rate, with Israel now having its own iPhone app. Set up by the Israel tourism ministry, this app provides regular updates in English and Hebrew about accommodation, events and tours throughout Israel, making the overall travel experience much easier and more exciting.

Plus, according to an interesting TNooz article, the new Windows 7 Phone's voice activation functionality could be used by travellers to check important information such as their flight's status online without any tiresome browsing.

It is therefore clear that the future of travel technology, and the travelling experience in general, will rely heavily on mobile technology. So, will your business or website follow suit?
