Tunisia launches new hard hitting campaign-20th June- In an attempt to woo back tourists to Tunisia, the Tunisian tourist board has released a campaign which uses ‘shock tactics’ and controversial themes. The campaign is aimed at challenging people’s perceptions of Tunisia. There will also be a second campaign which takes a softer approach, which reminds people of the beauty of Tunisia. The campaign contains images of a woman being massaged with the slogan ‘They say that in Tunisia people receive heavy-handed treatment’.
39% of Brits not taking a summer holiday- 20th June- Yet another poll has been released which doesn’t bode well for the travel industry. Finance company ING Direct carried out a survey on 2,000 respondents and 39% of them claimed to not be taking a holiday this year to save on money. Interestingly 9 of of 10 of these will be taking a holiday in the UK instead. The poll also indicated the travellers are more likely to save for holidays now instead of just putting them on the credit card.

Moblie apps are being used more then the web-20th- Continuing our theme of mobiles, a report from comScore and Alexa show that in the US mobile apps are being used more than web browsing for the 1st time. The report shows that in June this year the average consumer used 81 mins a day on apps and 74 mins on the internet. Of these apps 47% of them were down to games and social media apps. Could this be an indication of how things are to be in the future with users focusing on apps rather than the web?
