Big 10 cruise finalists- 18th August- Last Thursday we held 2 very exciting interviews in the Norwegian Cruise Lines offices in London to decide who should win the Click2Cruise site prize with a £5,000 marketing spend from Norwegian. Both the 2 finalists Omega Travel and Cruise Answers gave very impressive and different interviews and it was great to meet such innovative and enthusiastic cruisers. The whole event will be covered by Travel Weekly this week so watch out for the announcement of the winner coming soon.
Our next Big 10- 22nd August- It’s been a while since we announced a new Big 10, so here it is. This month we are offering one lucky winner a free PPC audit of their current PPC strategy. Travel News
Amadeus warns of fraudulent email-22nd August- Amadeus has contacted several travel agents warning them of a so-called phishing email scam. The email which was 1st noticed at the beginning of the month asks readers to log into their account to ‘Check your Amadeus register user session’ and to log into your account using a link provided. Users are then taken to a fake site from which their username, password and ID are taken. If you have an Amadeus account and receive a familiar email then you must report this to your Amadeus representative immediately.
Cruise News- Sunshine.co.uk releases new cruise site-17th August- The founders of Sunshine.co.uk have released a new cruise site ‘Bonvoyage.co.uk’. The site enables users to view the layout of all the cruise ships as well as choose which cabin they wish to stay in. The site is focused on providing a complete online service for cruisers, providing as much content and information as possible, with videos of all the ships, ports and excursions available. The site currently offers P&O and Conard cruises with plans to expand to Princess, Royal Caribbean and MCS Cruises.
Technology News:
Forget Facebook and Twitter, StumbleUpon drives the most social traffic-19th August-In a recent report from Mashable it was revealed that StumbleUpon accounts for more than 50% of social media traffic. Despite Facebook and Twitter having a much higher amount of users, (StumbleUpon only has 12 million, Facebook has 750 million) it has generated the highest amount of referral traffic. These stats came from StatCounter and was based on the the first 18 days of August.
Increase in mobile usage and how to adapt- 18th August- Last week Tnooz discussed the importance of having a mobile strategy for your travel site. Mobile is clearly here to stay with more and more people browsing on their phone rather than via the traditional computer. In this 8 step guide you can begin to build your mobile strategy, some of the tips include, keep your mobile site as simple as possible, the smaller amount of clicks the better and don’t decide between apps and browsers as it’s both which are important to your strategy.
